In the present scenario, I feel like every thing can be, and mostly is, used as yet another tool to condemn the government. Sure the government is doing a lot of wrong things which should be condemned, but not everything can be blamed on them. We aren't all that great either, we as a society have failed on so many levels, and those failures shouldn't be whitewashed in the process of speaking out against government.
I said something about military killing protestors in the past. That is absolutely wrong and must be wholeheartedly condemned, but in the process we shouldn't forget that the protest was for ridiculous demands that were meant to fuel communal hatred. Of course that in no way justifies the military action. It becomes really hard to maintain a balance in situations like these, however that is exactly what we need to do.
Achieve that balance. Making sure that we don't end up supporting the lesser evil while condemning the greater(in this case much much greater) one
@DinkaChica I couldn't agree with you more! As individuals we all have responsibility and accountability for our actions or lack there of. We need to strive better as humans to learn from our mistakes and move on. We all take responsibility for the world we live in. We need to take more action and not be lazy and make the changes we want to see in this world.
@OohLaLa Thank you! In the present scenario, we all are pushing the responsibilities away. And that is not healthy. Even if the regime changes, that is not going to solve the problems that have takes such deep roots in our society. We need to work really hard to weed them out. And no one else, no "one single charismatic leader with their heart at right place" can do it. We all need to take collective as well as individual responsibility for it
@DinkaChica @DinkaChica What is a mob? What is a government? The government is from us. When they are uneducated, not understanding of the act of being a government official without bringing your religious biases along with you. This is the result. It's like the whole debate about HInduism and Hinduvta. The Hindus amongst us believe in books while the religion is now different from the essence. Othering these don't make for a solution.
@bumbleebee exactly. Neither does blaming the rss or BJP. Who gave them power? They have power because we chose to believe their propaganda. We chose to support them in their propaganda. We chose to go to the CAA support rallies.
@DinkaChica We still go around saying Congress is not an option. And everyone is still suspicious of the left ideology and its tactics.
@bumbleebee congress is an option, just not a very strong one with the present chaos in internal ranks. Being suspicious of the left ideology makes sense for a majorly rightist population. But that doesn't mean we need to fall back on BJP. There are so many regional parties that are doing good work. BJD comes to mind, they are doing real good work in odisha. And so are a lot other parties. Even if there is not any option, then we should work on creating one. Make our own party ๐Ÿคท
@DinkaChica Every party will go through the same organisational graph, learning curves and hiccups. Congress started out as lean machine and now is bloated but they have the advantages and disadvantages of experience. I see that changing parties based on performance will keep everyone on their toes. No need to be a slave to ideology.
@bumbleebee completely agree with you here. Vote for the candidate of the area, who you personally know to be a good candidate, who you can approach when needed, and not a party. That will solve so many issues that we are grappled by today.
@DinkaChica We should now solve world peace ๐Ÿ˜
@bumbleebee Trump would solve it with his genius intellect ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
@DinkaChica The RSS was kept around for so long. My God, imagine if an extremist Muslim organisation would have functioned in this country so openly and brazenly. The RSS and Bajrang Dal both have been used as tools when convenient. That's why they were allowed to thrive. That backfired.
@bumbleebee muslim organizations do function in the same manner. They just don't get such limelight because of their smaller numbers. A lot of places in north-western UP(area I'm familiar with) are dominated by them. And yes they do function exactly like Bajrang Dal and RSS in terms of extremism
@bumbleebee point is, extremism of any kind is bad. Even if it's not religious but ideological. Russian revolution was based on Left extremism and we all know how that turned out. So many deaths, complete disregard for basic human rights etc.
@DinkaChica Okay, I see how bigotry can function but I guess they don't trouble me until they are part of the party in the government. I think dismantling these should be an agenda on both sides.
@bumbleebee ever heard of fatwas issued by devband? One time they banned any kind of hindu worship in their area of control. They can cause trouble even without being in power.
@DinkaChica No I haven't. My aversion to religion kept me from following anything to do with it. That is until now, till I saw it interfere with life.
@bumbleebee If I remember correctly, they are the same people who put 10 lakh bounty on Sonu Nigam's head when he said azaan are annoying because they interrupt with his sleep
@DinkaChica Okay. I think Muslims feel faith comes before country. Hindus hate this and so are now putting their faith before country. What a vicious web we weave. They both make sane conversations insane. But when you can change citizenships and changing religion is so contrabandish, it makes you wonder.
