Google latest tech giant to crack down on political ads as pressure on Facebook grows

Google to bar political advertisers from targeting voters based on affiliation and tighten ban on ‘demonstrably false claims’

@glynmoody
Too little, too late.

We can no longer trust #Google, #Amazon and #Apple and #Microsoft to #selfRegulate. Time to enforce #antiTrust, or start a #boycott movement.

#Australian govt must ban the use of these companies and #dotCom companies in processes where sentivite data is used.

@dsfgs certainly we should treat them with scepticism. but their actions usefully apply pressure on facebook, equally untrustworthy.

@glynmoody
Its #virtueSignalling they've moved onto new methods of #suggestion, #autoCompletion of #searchTerms and #propaganda disguised as #news.

They still have the power to deny people to #banking and other web services with onerous #reCaptcha, plans to dominate w #selfDrivingCars, can access people's #email, documents, #cloudStorage, #translations, #homeDevices, and #mapServices etc

Too much #monopoly #power between those four entities.

#Facebook are big but just a #socialMedia platform.
