So, if BJP can't form government, any state can come under President's rule. #MurderOfMandate #MaharashtraPoliticalCrisis
@volteface What is the ideal course of action that the Governor should have exercised under his powers?
@avndp Don't you think the Governor acted in haste to somehow make the state of #Maharashtra under President's rule by hook or crook? Just look at the time period given to #BJP (almost 18 days after results+ 3 days after he formally invited BJP to form govt), #SS (24 hours) and #NCP (24 hours) but less than 24 hours after he invited #NCP, the state was under President's rule by 3.30-4.00 PM.
@volteface I'm not supporting Governor. Definitely I object his actions. But what could have been the better action for future similar situations. Equal time to all or maximum time limit to largest party or something else?
@avndp to be precise, the governor being the custodian of the Constitutional morality (ideally) he should make every effort to bring an elected government. #Maharashtra showed us that the governor was making a mockery of constitution to somehow "ensure" Presidential rule. #HisMastersVoice what else?
@avndp the ideal course of action should have been to give equal time period to each stake-holder to prove majority and to form government. Instead the governor committed Constitutional fraud. #Article356 (that empowers the governor to recommend President's rule) as the Constitution makers described it is supposed to remain "dead letter" and to be used in rare and extreme circumstances.
