De veeteelt en vleesmarkten dragen bij aan dit probleem, omdat opgestapelde dieren een ideale broedplaats zijn voor infecties en mutaties ervan. Denk maar aan Q-koorts, varkensgriep, vogelpest of COVID-19. Dat is niet een veilige manier van voedselproductie. Plantaardig voedsel heeft dit probleem niet. Het is daarom belangrijk dat ons voedselsysteem NU verandert naar plantaardig, want het is niet alleen duurzaam en eerlijk, maar ook VEILIG! ---------------[English]--------------- Did you know that 60% of known infectious diseases are zoonotic, meaning that they originate from non-human animals and are then transmitted to humans? Animal agriculture and meat markets contribute to this problem, as animals packed together are an ideal breeding ground for infections and its mutations. Q-fever, swine flu, bird flu and COVID-19 are only a few examples. That is obviously not a safe way to produce food. Plant-based food doesn't have this problem. So it's important that our food system turns plant-based NOW, because it's not just sustainable and fair, but also SAFE!
