En España y otros países europeos, Zelus renardii es una especie invasora originaria de America. Hace un par de años había unos pocos reportes, pero por desgracia yq está ya ampliamente distribuida. Aquí es conocida como chinche asesina americana al ser depredadora de otras especies de insectos.

In Spanien und anderen europäischen Ländern ist Zelus renardii eine invasive Art, die ursprünglich aus Amerika stammt. Vor ein paar Jahren gab es nur wenige Berichte, aber leider ist sie jetzt weit verbreitet. Bei uns ist sie als amerikanische Mordwanze bekannt, da sie andere Insektenarten vertilgt.

Despite its harmless appearance, Zelus renardii (leaf hopper assasin bug) is an invasive predatory species originating in America that threatens native insect species in Europe. In 2010 it was first cited in Greece, and in 2015 it was seen in Benidorm and Valencia. In 2023 I photographed it in this city without knowing what it was. Now I find it regularly in different parks in Valencia.

A pesar de su aspecto inofensivo, Zelus renardii (o chinche asesina americana) es en Europa una una especie invasora depredadora originaria de América que amenaza las especies autóctonas de insectos. En 2010 se citó por primera vez en Grecia, y en 2015 se vio en Benidorm y en Valencia. En 2023 la fotografié en esta ciudad sin saber lo que era. Ahora la encuentro habitualmente en diferentes parques de Valencia.

Trotz seines harmlosen Aussehens ist Zelus renardii ( in Amerika als leaf hopper assasin bug bekannt) eine invasive räuberische Art, die ursprünglich aus Amerika stammt und die einheimischen Insektenarten in Europa bedroht. Im Jahr 2010 wurde sie erstmals in Griechenland gemeldet, und 2015 wurde sie in Benidorm und Valencia gesichtet. Im Jahr 2023 habe ich sie in Valencia fotografiert, ohne zu wissen, was sie ist. Jetzt finde ich sie regelmäßig in verschiedenen Parks in Valencia.

Otra chinche asesina Zelus renardii. Es una especie invasora que no debería estar aquì, en Europa. Esta chinche es originaria de América, y pesar de su pequeño tamaño es conocida como chinche asesina porque es un depredador que amenaza seriamente la fauna autóctona. Desde hace unos años había observaciones aisladas, pero yo la veo con mucha frecuencia en un parque del centro de Valencia. He tomado esta foto en Julio de 2024.

Diese Wanze ist aus Amerika stammend und trotz ihrer geringen Größe als Mordwanze bekannt, weil sie ein Raubtier ist, das die einheimische Fauna ernsthaft bedroht. Seit einigen Jahren gibt es vereinzelte Sichtungen, aber ich sehe sie sehr oft in einem Park im Zentrum von Valencia. Dieses Foto habe ich im Juli 2024 aufgenommen.

At first glance it looks harmless and barely measures 12 mm, but the photos show why it is so called. You can see how it uses its proboscis to pierce the abdomen of its prey and suck its fluids. Photos taken in a park in Valencia. The second one is made by adding a lens to the main camera of the iPhone 15 Pro. In the first one the integrated macro mode has been used.

Aunque en realidad, la flor de ruellia sobre la está posada tampoco es autóctona.

Diese Wanze sollte nicht hier sein. In Europa ist Zelus renardii (Nymphe), die so genannte Blatttrichter-Attentäter-Käfer, trotz ihrer geringen Größe eine räuberische invasive Art, die in Amerika heimisch ist und die heimische Fauna bedroht. Aber in der Tat ist die Ruellia-Blume, auf der sie sitzt, auch nicht heimisch.
