Project update: Minor problems after a storm, and rye field approved by the rye master himself

The rye still grows like crazy and the field was now checked by the "rye master" of the region. He is happy with what he saw (uff, what a relief) and we are so looking forward to see the field ourselves in 4 weeks. Our hut in the middle of the field had to be stabilised after a storm, as soon as we are back it will be extended and fixed even better.

Space Journey / Rosetta

Risograph based on the trajectory of the ESA probe “Rosetta”, which was send into space in 2004 to explore the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko and crashed on the comet’s surface in 2016 after the mission was completed.

The work was realized during an Artist-in-Science Residency of the artist at the European Space Agency (ESA) hosted by Kultur einer Digitalstadt in Darmstadt in 2022.

The print was produced by Herr und Frau Rio in Munich and is a limited, signed and numbered edition.

Project update: the rye and the cats are growing!

The hosts of our project in Finland keep us updated when we are not there. Things are looking good, the rye is growing and the cats too. We all think that KAJ can be proud that they ended up in the forth place at ESC and we are looking forward to use the sauna that was send to Basel to support them. Because that particular mobile sauna will go back to Vörå and can be used there (we will update on that once we are back).

We will be back for Vörådagarna 2025 which will take place in the first week of July. More to come!

Beginning 2024, I started with a craving for painting skulls. Maybe it’s not so surprising when you think of Tsar Putin doing his best to conquer Ukraine under some silly pretense while it’s all about the valuable resources the Ukraine has.

Die Serie „Taumeln“ zeigt fragmente der Nachwelt - sind es Knochen, Müll oder Blumen? Jeder kennt das ruthenische Salzkraut, das, oft cineastisch inszeniert, durch ausgestorbene Wüstenstädte rollt. Es symbolisiert die Leere nach der Apokalypse. Die leuchtenden Farben erinnern an das Plastikzeitalter, das längst vergangen und vergessen ist.
Gemalt in Acryl auf Leinwand spielt die Serie mit der Fantasie und konfrontiert mit dem Paradox einer trostlosen, aber farbenfrohen Leere.

Space Journey / Tesla

Risograph, inspired by the movement pattern of the Tesla (white) launched into space by Elon Musk as a PR stunt in 2018, the blue line shows the orbit of the Earth, the yellow line that of Mars.

Sometimes, things veil our eyes without us even noticing—placed right under our noses yet lingering in the background of our perception, too distant to rise to consciousness.

In the city undergoing relentless transformation, rubble is one of these invisible familiars. It is everywhere demolition, clearing, excavation, and backfilling occur. It forms dunes, fills dumpsters, piles up in sacks—and there is so much of it that we no longer see it. Stored away, it patiently waits for its time, to be reused or sent to the landfill.

Until the day when, a burst of green and red in the midst of all this mineral reminds us of time elapsed, the omnipresence of construction sites, the reality of a collapsed landscape—where the debris surrounding us has become

Les choses nous tapissent parfois l’oeil sans qu’il soit possible de les remarquer ; placées sous notre nez en même temps qu’à l’arrière-plan de notre perception, trop loin pour remonter jusqu’à la conscience.

Dans la ville en refonte effrénée, le gravats est un de ces familiers invisibles. Il est partout où on démolit, déblaie, excave, remblaie. Il forme des dunes, remplit des bennes, s’entasse en sacs ; et il y en a tellement qu’on ne voit plus. Sagement stocké ça attend son heure, d’être réutilisé ou évacué à la décharge.
Jusqu’au jour où, une percée verte et rouge au milieu de tout ce minéral nous rappelle le temps écoulé, l’omniprésence des chantiers, la réalité d’un décor effondré dont les rebuts qui nous entourent sont devenus

We are in a state of perpetual construction; there are worksites that never end.
There are projects that never even begin.

And yet, still, we continue to claim spaces,
again.
With sheets of metal,
right in your view.

We enter suspended time—an opportunity to observe everything closely. Everywhere, we walk along barriers; our eyes graze the white-lacquered, undulating steel, which grays, yellows, rusts, as years pass.

We hide the grounds, we shield the gaze, again—always.

Behind the first signs of wildness, buddleia grow without permission. So much so that soon, their blooming branches will climb over the fences
— rose-brown-green fingers, reaching high.

Nous sommes en période de construction permanente, il y a des chantiers qui jamais ne finissent.
Il y a des travaux qui jamais ne débutent.

Cependant quand même, on continue à faire provision d’espaces, encore.
À grand coup de tôles,
dans ta vue.

Nous rentrons dans le temps suspendu, c’est l’occasion de tout bien scruter. Partout, nous longeons des barrières, nos yeux lèchent l’acier ondulé laqué blanc qui grise jaunit rouille, les années passant.

On dissimule les terrains, on fait écran au regard, encore, toujours.

Derrière début d’ensauvagement, des buddleia poussent sans autorisation. Tellement, que leurs branches fleuries enjambent bientôt les clôtures.
Des doigts roses bruns verts, tendus bien haut.
