My brother and I have built a zeer pot ("desert cooler"), and ours is at the same time impressive and perfectly useless.

Impressive because two clay pots, a frisbee, a mop, sand and water make the temperature lower by 5°C (9°F).

Useless because 23°C (73°F) is not a good temperature for storing vegetables or even cooling a beer.
