On #ThisDayInHistory in 1965, #MobutuSeseSeko (born Joseph-Désiré Mobutu) made himself president of #Congo. As head of the army he had overthrown #PatriceLumumba in 1960, but initially stayed with the army. In 1971 he renamed the country #Zaire & held power directly for 32 years.

On #ThisDayInHistory in 1960, #MobutuSeseSeko launched a coup with #CIA help against the first president of #CongoKinshasa, #PatriceLumumba. MSS brutally held power until 1997, and for much of that time #Congo was called #Zaire. Lumumba was later butchered & dissolved in acid.

A la #virologia, a la #transmissió de #virus com #ebola, soca #zaire, hi ha principis bastant immutables. Ja vam dir que els casos creixerien i que NO haviem arribat al final de la rampa, i encara estem en ella. Ja hi ha 68 casos sospitosos i 16 morts. Eren només 42 fa dos dies i 28 casos fa 4 dies.
I alguns detalls addicionals són "perillosos".

Ebola cases in Congo's Kasai province rise

Africa’s top public health agency said Thursday that suspected Ebola cases in Congo’s southern Kasai province have more than doubled since last week. The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said suspected cases have increased from 28 to 68 in the province, and have spread from two to four districts. The death toll currently stands at 16. It comes as local authorities race to contain the spread of the disease amid growing concerns from residents. The latest outbreak is the 16th in the country and the 7th in the Kasai area. A previous outbreak between 2018 and 2020 in eastern Congo killed more than 1,000 people.

Amb cada brot de #ebola (o de #Sudan), els dos són #ebolavirus però no són iguals perquè el nostre sistema immune els veu diferents (de fet el vaccí #ervebo que és efectiu vs #ebola #Zaire és inefectiu vs #ebola #Sudan), hi ha gent que tem una nova pandèmia.
