Come to the dar... (clears throat) Misskey side.

Upside: reactions, local-only posting, mainline of another platform, reactions, optional plugins via a built-in programming language, shareable clips, custom (user defined) timelines via antenna, channels (facebook page alternative), basic blogging (along with microblogging), extensive customization options. Oh and also reactions.

Downside: possibly even longer migration time, no post editing (only delete and redraft), parts of the software is still in Japanese, overwhelmingly extensive customization options, may need to develop a migration script as there doesn't seem to be many resources about Hometown or Misskey let alone about migration.
Due to large number on uncommon features, it would be harder to migrate back to Mastodon. Also, the shear number of options can make it overwhelming for many people.
