#GOTY here's my picks for the top 5 games I played in 2024, one very surprising omission and one not-at-all a surprise!

at number 5 we have #Yomawari Night Alone

the only Nippon Ichi game on the list this year, after they took 3/5 slots last year! this game was originally released for the Vita in 2015, and then ported to Switch in 2018. I played it a few weeks ago after finally getting my hands on a physical copy as part of "The Long Night Collection" which includes the sequel "Midnight Shadows" that I am yet to play

Nippon Ichi are probably my favorite developer/publisher after ATLUS because they constantly release games that are seemingly made just to appeal to me. The Yomawari games are isometric survival horror games with a pretty unique art style and atmosphere, and I just love them. there's no combat and the gameplay revolves around exploration and puzzle solving, with ghosts and ghouls taken from Japanese folklore. very atmospheric, play in the dark! recommended

9: YOMAWARI: MIDNIGHT SHADOWS

Both creepy and sad, Yomawari has a really unsettling atmosphere. It’s a pretty basic game as far as mechanics go, but the simplicity mostly works in its favor. Spends most of its runtime spooking you, then gives you the feels.

Started #Yomawari Lost in the Dark on my #NintendoSwitch last night and absolutely loving it so far. Am a big fan of isometric games (Trails from Zero is my GOTY) and this one looks amazing
