We started off on the back foot with just a dwarf and an elf tackling The Trial, but Tonet eventually joined as a barbarian. It was Celestine’s second time playing my childhood favorite game, and I’m not sure she has been won over yet.

I didn’t get a lot of exposure to Games Workshop growing up and never could bring myself to get sucked into the terrible commitments of Warhammer, but I’ve been surprised by how many formative gaming experiences I had were tied to that company. Fighting Fantasy was created by two of Games Workshop’s founders, Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, and HeroQuest was co-developed by creators there and set in an altered version of the Warhammer world.

It has felt good to extend my daily distance and I’d like to keep it up for as long as I can.
