It looks like our youngest’s diet in Japan this trip will again be based primarily on rice 🍚 🍙 (to be expected), #yakitori (chicken kebabs), and sweets. They barely touch other meat dishes or fish at home. We doubt the veracity of the nursery reports that they ate well… but the power of peer pressure might be at work there? 🤷

After walking around this morning and getting very wet, we wanted to go out somewhere near the hotel we're staying in. Cue the inakaya experience of a basement robotayaki restaurant. Shoes off at the door and left in a locker with a slotted piece of wood as the key.We weren't sure that we would be able to even understand the menu, but two very kind and friendly members of staff were only too willing to help us out. My wife had all the vegetable things, I went for a selection of chicken yakitori (not yet arrived when I took the photo). The Japanese vodka cocktails with fresh frozen fruit were very morish, but we were being good tonight, so just the one each. Atmosphere was very lively, with families, young and old couples alike.
