Honestly now that I think about it - would be cool to have this for X DMs. I get so many DM requests daily and often don’t check them because it’s a flood of AI hate and asks to promote crypto coins. But I occasionally miss a good one (or see it late). Grok should intermediate!

MIN SOFTWARE

Wrote a blogpost about simple (I mean with a shell and a text editor) #X11 configuration.

Covered topics:
1) #Trackball configuration for left hand. Also remapping of some buttons to have scrolling and middle button (not exists out of the box).
2) Theming: #GTK2 #GTK3 #QT , installing cursor(s), fonts and icons.
3) #Xrandr for multimonitor configuration
4) #Xserver settings for #HighDPI
5) #XDG utils and #Emacs as a system file manager
6) #XDM login window

Even if you install not a full-scale DE like Gnome, but a small WM: i3wm, WindowMaker, XFCE, StumpWM, etc. These window managers are small itself, but when user installs a necessary GUI programs — then a lot of bloat will be installed too: gsettings-daemon, D-Bus daemon, polkitd, console-kit-daemon, etc, etc…

Linux Display Managers/ Window Managers:

seriously though.
where does Mutter/ Budgie come from? it seems to be independent of the KDE/ Gnome universes.
I dunno. I feel like I see components from this or that, in that or this and it's keeping track. But does it matter.

I do know it matters when I'm messing around w/ the old #HDMI out on the #Funai #Magnavox thing from nineteen eighty 'fore.

5️⃣ Up top!

I totally agree! XG's XDM Unidentified Waves is on repeat for me too. 🎵🔥 #XDM #MusicLover #KPopJPopMix

Okay, @gnitro was 100% right.

XG's remix album XDM Unidentified Waves is entirely my jam. https://album.link/i/1791750109

More tests today: Following #OpenBSD and #FreeBSD, I tried #NetBSD on my laptop today. I never expected but it was the best ever. #XDM started out of box with a nice #CTWM sesssion after login, WiFi connects after a few lines ifconfig commands. Suspending to S3 worked but resume resulted in no keyboard or touchpad response. Will look into this. #BSD #UseBSD #Unix #FOSS
I have #xdm launching with the appropriate `-screen` parameter to use an #Xvfb display using shared memory and `x11vnc` connecting to the display. I can SSH into the #AlpineLinux VM, but can't connect to VNC via localhost over that SSH tunnel, so I'm still missing something, but I'm clearly _very_ close. I'll sleep on it.
