A widely reported problem involved Hertz mistakenly reporting rental cars as stolen, then failing to remove those reports after the cars were found and rented to other customers. In some cases, innocent renters were pulled over, arrested, and even jailed while driving cars they had legally rented.

The issue became significant enough that Hertz agreed to pay about $168 million in settlements to resolve hundreds of wrongful-arrest claims.

Recently, there is a fucking stupid case in Indonesia. Where a photographer were sentenced for two years in prison, because he was accused of doing budget markup for a VILLAGE VIDEO, which is the total are only around 30 Million rupiah or 1.763,17 Dolar.

The problem is, as you can see here, the auditor (the one accused the photographer) viewed that, the cost of CONCEPT/IDEAS, MICROPHONE, CUTTING, AND DUBBING

SHOULD HAVE BEEN ZERO, FUCKING ZERO....

Chronology so far can be found here:

Tennessee grandmother Angela Lipps spent over five months in jail after AI facial recognition wrongly linked her to bank fraud crimes in Fargo, North Dakota, where she'd never been. Police relied on a partner agency's AI system and additional investigative steps before issuing a warrant, but Chief Zibolski admitted "part of the issue" was overreliance on flawed AI data. Despite promising operational changes, police stopped short of a direct apology. This case highlights risks of AI facial recognition—false identifications can ruin lives and expose systemic flaws in law enforcement.
