Right now, I'm not getting what I want out of my creative writing. I still feel like I'm holding myself back, playing it safe, hiding behind words instead of using them to reach out to the reader.
I think I need to break myself open, get a little crazy, shake it up a bit so I can bypass my thinking mind and write from the heart.
Do you have any suggested exercises (or other advice) for this kind of thing?

Sitting down with a coffee.
Wearing a pretty dress.
Writing down a thought that has been around in my head forever.
Writing it for hours, in different shades and and forms, until it feels right.
