The Volvo is Finally Getting Some Love | Daily 494

I was going to try and salvage this old bicycle frame..but I have no idea how the previous owner managed to get an oversized nut into the crank arm. No socket fits this.
Oversized bolt threaded onto the bottom bracket, and no room in the crank arm to fit a socket.

Wrench day on the friends VW. End links, lower arms, and tie rod ends (she rattles!). Started with the end links... driver side, just a few minutes. Pax side ... hours :S
Been a little while with no progress, but my friend came over yesterday and helped me drop the engine out. 5 bolts and the entire block drops then slides out sideways! Far lighter than we expected, too.
Got the bottom end dismantled and sadly it seems like the problem isn't what we thought it was, although we did find another suspect shaft collar under 1st gear plus the bearing next to it, both of which will be getting replaced just in case.
Brakes on one corner running a bit hot. Considering new calipers, pulled the parking brake cables.. but all three seem just fine.
Unfortunately, one side has quite a bit of play in the parking brake shaft and the other has been leaking brake fluid into the adjuster area.
Guess next spring, will probably try my hand and rebuilding these myself. Until then, adjusted and put back together.
Good chance to deep clean the wheels while they were off.
