This playlist is a nice, succinct intro to Kevin Crawford’s #WorldsWithoutNumber #WWN system. The *WN library of games is my personal favorite and they combine old-school gaming with modern game design in a way that makes gaming familiar to both gaming grognards and newbs alike.

#RPGaDay2025 Day 8: Explore

I actually don't want begin with that much knowledge about the world. It will be for me too to explore. Not just in terms of geography but society too. How fucked is the old imperial realm one-and-a-half generation after the Moonfall?

I have my two favourite resources to help me explore: Worlds without Numbers (or something else by Kevin Crawford) and Ironsworn: Star forged (or Sundered Isles by Shawn Tomkin). Both are filled to the brim with useful tables and rules for procedural generation.

I am looking for more resources, so if you have recommendations toss them this way

@Morgunin #WorldsWithoutNumber weil Du damit vlt eine gute Brücke zw Leuten schlagen kannst, die #swordsandwizardry mochten und jenen, die gerne etwas mehr auf dem Figurenbogen stehen haben. WwN ist ein #osr Spiel, das aber Skills, eine Art Lifepath-System und Foci (quasi Feats) hat und es ist umsonst. Mit hat WwN viel Spaß gemacht. Das Spiel hält auch phantastische SL-Tools parat. Ansonsten natürlich: #TrophyGoldRPG

So, I've been playing #WorldsWithoutNumber lately, and for the most part it's a great #TTRPG and I've been enjoying it, but this shit is the stupidest, most ludonarratively dissonant restriction. No reasoning, no specific in-game mechanic referenced, no narrative, just:

@juergen_hubert mit einem #osr System hättest Du sowohl den Schätze suchen-Aspekt im Kasten als auch den High Stakes-Aspekt, der mit historisch inspirierten Settings einher geht. Spiele wie #17thCenturyMinimalist #GrimHack (nicht dnd-artig) oder #Warlock (nicht dndefault aber d20) oder #WorldsWithoutNumber stünden mir für Spätmittelalter bis FNZ vor Augen. 2/2

Tag 2 : Zuletzt gespielt (recently played)

Ich nehme 2 letzte Spiele. Dienstag habe ich #HyperboreaRPG gespielt, ein OSR-Rollenspiel, das sich sehr nach AD&D gut spielbar anfühlt. Die eigenen Abenteuer des Verlags haben tonnenweise Stimmung und die Gruppe ist grandios.

Gestern gab es #WorldsWithoutNumber und wir haben die Schweinslande erforscht. Es gab eine Menge naheliegender Wortwitze, aber solange Fortunato seinen Hut mit Feder tragen darf - wundervoll!
