This is not how an adult in a position of power is supposed to speak to the public. #Trump needs to be removed from office now, along with his enablers. Impeach and imprison. If that can’t happen then we need to move to tarring and feathering.

Ooopsies! #WhiteHouse accidentally releases video of #TrumpSucks saying the truth about #war's priority

"In a closed door speech the White House apparently accidently published and then deleted (but not before it was downloaded and reshared), #DonaldTrump declared the inability of the federal government to provide for things like #daycare when his priority is #military strength, not the #welfare of the American public. Senator Chris Van Hollen joins to discuss."

I had this idea to make a playlist of songs that I feel apply to every year, not that were written in but rather apply to or I would have listened a lot to in that year. There's a couple years where I am a little hazy but I decided to go from 6th grade to 2025.

1999 Voodoo, Godsmack
-I was attending a christian school after being pulled out over having to learn about Kwanza. I had no real choice over my music but the highschooler that drove us did. Voodoo came very frequently on the radio back then and I would call it the beginning of my puberty rebellion.

2000 Blue (Da Ba Dee), Eifel 65
-Who did not listen to Blue on repeat in 2000, I ask you? Daft Punk was also on cartoon network and with Y2K the primary actor on the scene what better way to represent the general angst.

2001 Too Old to Rock and Roll, Jethro Tull
-I was allowed only a few bands due to very conservative parents and Jethro Tull was one. This song is about a person that feels he should belong to a community, finds out he doesn't and is mocked. It's about as close to trans allegory and my experience of being kicked out of Male spaces for being effeminate and gay and female spaces because I was born trans and I didn't know this until much much later.

2002 Mr Roboto, Styx
-Another song about a person that's helpful but out of place. "I am the modern man, who hides behind a mask so no one else can see my true identity" spoke to me for reasons that would not become clear until much later.

2003 99 Luftballons, Nena
-This is when I first started dating and moving further and further away from my family. At this point I was a communist, anti-american and anti-war. With Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003 this was the perfect song to vent my anti-imperialist frustrations.

2004 Devil's Dance Floor, Flogging Molly
-Floggin Molly was really popular in my friend group and I really have always liked this specfic song. It reminds me of the type of woman I want to be, outgoing, desirable and fun.

2005 How to Save a Life, The Fray
-I was diagnosed with OCD at this point and had a lot of mental problems as puberty and dysphoria deepened. This was the perfect song to vent that pain. I still cry when I hear it.

2006 Stars, Switchfoot
-Depression continuing into college. This album had songs like "Happy is a Yuppie Word". Yeah happiness belongs to the rich. I was hurting and I looked to the stars because I was so desperate to see something like hope. Funny that I tried to do that by being an Astrophysicist.

2007 Sirens, Angels and Airwaves
-My rebellion deepened against my parents. I, Empire was a very important album for me as was my time in college in widening the gulf between my family's conservatism and my place as a socialist black sheep.

2008 Teenagers, My Chemical Romance
-We did nothing to deserve MCR. Humanity did not deserve this band. That is all.

2009 Livin on a Prayer, Bon Jovi
-I was engaged for the first time at this point. She liked older bands like Journey and Bon Jovi and Oingo Boingo and we were truly living on a prayer while the US slipped deeper into recession.

2010 Logical Song, Supertramp
-I found this on one of my exes albums while we were married. "I said, watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical
A liberal, oh, fanatical, criminal". This song spoke to being robbed of my emotions for capitalism and a gender I don't have and also how my leftism has been phrased as fanatical and criminal.

2011 The Mariner's Revenge, Decemberists
-This is a perfect song about revenge and it was the only song I could tolerate of my exes favorite band.

2012 Gangnam Style, Psy
-This song was a viral sensation and I listened to it on repeat.

2013 Misery Business, Paramore
-There was music video of a girl doing hula hoop training on a silly website and she was choreographing it to this song. I hid it from my wife. I never knew why. Likely because it was a rather feminine song and I wanted to look like the girl in the video.

2014 Losing My Religion, REM
-I left the church in 2014. Not just the church but christianity as a whole. I recanted my christianity this year. An action I stood by but was the spark that would eventually lead to detonate my marriage.

2015 Zombie, Cranberries
-I went to Scotland, England and France in this year. Everywhere we went it was Palestine Palestine Palestine. I was really quite mad when I got back to my leftist friends in the US to be met with "What's that" and bald-faced Zionism. I was ashamed of myself and ashamed of my friends. I should have seen through US Propaganda. This is about Ireland but I feel it's applicable to any country like South Africa or Palestine as well.

2016 Runaways, Killers
-This was the song I listened to a great deal during my divorce to help process it. I was absent in a lot of ways by the end and in the 4Fs I am a flighter. I ran away a lot. It takes a lot for me to fight.

2017 Midnight, Tyler Glenn
-The year I came out. This is an album by a man that was excommunicated by the Church when he came out. I HIGHLY recommend Excommunication if you are a ex-christian queer that got disowned. It is PERFECT. "I can't change, I can't change and I don't want to" was essential for keeping up the courage to remaing out regardless of the cost.

2018 Make it Stop September's Children, Rise Against
-I'd been out long enough to feel sorrow and anger. September's children is about a string of suicides in September caused by intense homophobia. It embodies my anger and sadness of this year.

2019 Natural Born Sinner, In this Moment
-I started to embrace my queerness and metal at this point. I was mad but I'd started to accept being a sinner, and that I was born into it. If I was a sinner I would live it and fuck you if it made you mad.

2020 Amerika, Rammstein
-I had made the decision to move away from the US after dating my partner and now almost wife for a year. I started trying to learn German with German music and apps and books and it gave me a whole new voice to my anti-americanism. German music doesn't pull punches and Amerika is no exception. It's a biting and scathing refute of Americanism.

2021 Fakk, Eisbrecher
-This album was released when Corona hit and I was suddenly stuck in the US for another year. It was about the same frustration I was feeling. It would also become one of my favorite bands.

2022 Was ist Hier Los, Eisbrecher
-This is about media's part in the enshittification of society and the failures of government to do anything. It has been in my top played songs for a very long time.

2023 We Didn't Start the Fire, Fall Out Boy
-This is basically the history of my entire life up to this point. "World Trade. Second plane WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO SAY?!". It really feels like world sanity fell with that second tower.

2024 Nein Danke, Eisbrecher
My grandfather died, I had one of my first friendships in Germany die by suicide this year. It was outrageously expensive. I had two different people get fired or quit for discrimination at my job targeted at me. It was horrendously expensive and I lost friends. This song perfectly encapsulates how little I wanted this year.

2025 Für immer Frühling, Sophie
-Positiviy returns and this song has enough sarcasm and positivity and biting wit as my General leftism has by turning bad situations into a dream for a world that is the opposite and always spring.

And that's all for now. Feel free to do the same if you want. I just thought it was neat idea to put a life to music.

Alternatively go for a long walk off a short pier and we'll happily fix it once we've finished partying.
