Rollins made a case for sweeping changes to #SNAP by asserting the #USDA uncovered "massive fraud" in state data the agency demanded, & referred to stats suggesting wrongdoing without providing data or details.
The #Trump admin's latest campaign for SNAP changes comes as millions are already poised to lose #benefits as #states implement new #WorkRequirements & #eligibility rules that #Republicans in #Congress passed over the summer that are the deepest #cuts in history to the program.
Attorneys General Sue Trump for Using Shutdown to Disrupt Food Aid for Millions
The Trump administration is facing a flurry of legal challenges to policies that could leave 42 million low-income people without food assistance as soon as November 1 while fast-tracking funding cuts and work requirements targeting veterans, unhoused people, and other vulnerable groups that rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as SNAP or food stamps).

This is good SNAP work requirement information & even though idk what states this applies to it makes me leas angry about the volunteer thing.
“I just want to flag here that if you live in a state that offers a ‘workfare’ or ‘comparable workfare’ program, you may have the option of meeting the work requirement by volunteering for less than 20 hours per week.
Under these special rules, which only applies to some types of volunteering (not to any other kind of work), you can meet the work requirement by volunteering for the number of hours equal to your monthly SNAP payment divided by your state’s minimum wage.
So for instance, if you receive $292 per month and live in a workfare state with a $12/hour minimum wage, you’d only have to volunteer 24 hours per month.”

New Hampshire used to have people volunteer for the state in the call center for DHHS, and if you do the math for 80 hours of volunteer work to get less than $300 in food stamps it’s sub minimum wage. So at least if your state is one of the workfare states you’re not working for less than $4 in food only benefits.

About 19,000 households using housing vouchers could face work requirements and time limits if the Houston Housing Authority moves ahead with program changes next year. An advocacy group is already critical of the possible change.
