#WordWeavers 2026.04.07 β€”Look around and describe an object as if it were a mysterious item (no name, no idea of it's purpose).

It was spherical, nearly perfectly geometrically so. Not a ball for throwing, though very colorful if now quite dirty and dusty. Not geometrical like a foosball or a paddleball, and bigger than both, which probably stopped the children from mischief. Hollow, they discovered shaking it with the excuse to knock off leaves. Maybe made of wood or shellacked paper, then painted? Lines circled it, and boys figured out those squiggles were words because the eldest 5 years 2 months and had been given an alphabet slate. The lines went vertically and horizontally; they remind Tomeas of the segments of an orange cut into two halves, but presented on the exterior. Much of the outside was blue. The rest was painted like mud spread randomly lengths and widths across the surface, sometimes green, sometimes yellow or brown, sometimes, but only at either end, white. The gaggle (typically as pleasant as a murder of crows) should have been out foraging, but they goggled at it for minutes, then wisely decided not to play with it but to call their parents over to where the hill had caved in, revealing all sort of wonders beside what they almost mistook for an overlarge toy.

#WordWeavers 7 Apr: Look around and describe an object as if it were a mysterious item.

Before you stands what looks like a small obelisk, brightly painted with geometric patterns of a clearly mystical nature. However, the pyramidal top is unusually narrow, to an extreme degree, in fact can't really be described as pyramidal at all, and white like the tip of an iceberg, which it also does not resemble. On further inspection this monolith is not made of stone but a softer, smoother material.

Sure... lemme give it a shot.

"When you crossed the sandsea, did you see a white tower on the distance? What did it look like?" Solomon asked

"There wasn't much else to look at." Tania shrugged. "Do you know when they expect to finish it?"

She caught a flash of surprise on Solomon's face but he responded before she could formulate a question.

"The Nam-Yensa sandsea is magicked. It was born from the magic of the Heavy Gate."

"I know that much. Everyone knows-"

"The Tower is magicked." Solomon continued. "It is part of the sandsea. Some travelers see it being built. Most see it complete and proud. Some see it in ruins or under siege. Some never see it at all. And a select few have reported it upside-down, its highest tower buried in the sand. The world is wider than you think, Tania."

#WordWeavers 7. Look around and describe an object as if it were a mysterious item (no name, no idea of it's purpose).

A metal pole reaches skyward. Some branches are firmly attached, others, held on by friction, have migrated to the downwind side. Three of the branches support oddly shaped pendants: one tubular, one roofed and floored with a cylindrical cage between, one odd-shaped wooden frame around a flat square metal cage.

(Cue the archeologists: "Probably a ritual object")

It must be intended to serve as some means of communication, because it has writing on it as well as art. It's too small to hold a very long message, though. Some of the writing is repeated, as though the creator wanted to emphasise that part above all the rest. It is far from pristine, and seems pretty elderly, as though it's been knocked about over the years.

What's this… abomination? What are those metal pieces? What do those things do? One is sharp…or it should be, but it's clearly damaged. Not because of use, but because of abuse. And it seems to be a few pieces missing. The translucent red handles have seen a lot. And there's holes for some pieces of unknown function. Thin and small pieces. I wonder what this thing is for…

#WordWeavers day 7: Look around and describe an object as if it were a mysterious item (no name, no idea of its purpose).

It's a long, slender piece of metal, mostly straight but with a slight arch to it, and at one end it flares out into an ovoid shape that's flat and concave. A sort of long-ish bowl shape, on the end of a long stem.

#WordWeavers Apr 7: Describe an object as if it were a mysterious item (no name, no idea of its purpose).

It is metal, mostly the color of bright blood, with a hinge at one end. It makes a clacking sound when depressed. It has weight, like a dense stone. If one looks closely, one can see the barest hint of teeth protruding, especially when squeezed.

An elongated cubic object, emitting vibrations and a soft glowing light from above.
I'm really bad at these on the spot....
