I want to make a coat out of this wool/nylon (75%/25%) blend but I haven't found a crochet stitch that both shifts the colours in an attractive way and *doesn't* eat up so much yarn that I can't make anything big enough to serve as a winter coat.

So knitting it is. But I don't like the way stockinette stitch stripes with short colour changes, and, frankly, knitting stockinette is boring. Plus, being able to scrunch up the fabric a bit should help make it a bit warmer. (I'll probably still need to make a lining because the fibre is a bit scratchy, but that's not a problem.)

I want to use a combination of geometric and organic shapes because I like the way that looks. However, this fibre has virtually no sheen and the short colour changes can obscure subtle stitch patterns. This is one of the stitch patterns I have been experimenting with. Will I use it? We'll see.

I have experienced some modest success in knitting cables, so I am now looking to make an ambitiously ornate project that is well above my skill level. Do not expect to see a finished garment, as I do not expect to finish any such project.

Slow progress -- borders take FOREVER -- but almost done. Toes for scale.

Two months in and caught up after a delayed start to my #TemperatureBlanket project. #knittersofmastodon: looking for advice on the best #yarn to #knit a #babyblanket. Intended recipient has allergies; I'm not sure if that includes #wool #woolyarn but I definitely want to avoid a yarn that will shed or pile. Durability and washability are important. I'm still deciding on a #pattern, but I want to use two colours (maybe #selfstripingyarn), medium weight.

Probably #acrylicyarn? Recommendations or yarns to avoid?
