I like to watch a bit of witchy videos on Youtube and stumbled across a video about "entry points of demons into your clothes".
That's wild, I thought. I looked at the channel, suspecting it would be some fundamental Christian. It wasn't, it was someone who apparently likes the teachings of Rudolf Steiner (not recommendable).
Apparently, there are three parties when it comes to demons:
1. Lots of new agers (and people like that youtuber) and fundamentalist or evangelical Christians who obsessively talk about demons and see them everywhere, warn everybody about them.
2. People who do not believe in demons at all or do not care about them.
3. Witches and pagans or occultists who actually like to work with specific demons every now and then.
And I'd rather be around people who fall into categories 2 or 3.
In German witchcraft and spiritual communities, the "Rauhnächte" are very popular (also elsewhere known as "Yule Nights" or by other names). It is said to be a specially sacred time, also for spiritual activities, like divination, deep meditation/trance/hedgeriding or other activities.
It is also said, that in the nights, the "Wild Hunt" is riding.

However, when I look at the weather these days here in Northern Germany, it's hard for me to believe in the Wild Hunt.
It's sunny, no ice, storm, snow...
Rather cozy.
And the only noise at night around here are annoying folks setting off firecrackers during the days and nights before New Year's Eve.
I think believing in the Wild Hunt and other folklore things made more sense in ancient times, when surviving winter was way harder than it is nowadays, at least in some places.
A post by "The Happy Broadcast" on Instagram got me amused. The method described here is what many witches do and they don't need scientific research to back up the knowledge that this method may work well. (But it's nice to know that there is scientific research behind it now.)
#witchythings heute: Rauhnachtsrituale.
Ich renne nicht mit 12 verschiedenen Räuchermischungen durch die Bude und packe alle Divinationswerkzeuge der Reihe nach aus. Heute sitze ich da, esse Joghurt, Stövchen mit Weihrauch weil ich den mag, eine Kerze brennt und ich reflektiere, wo ich stehe und wo ich hin will und habe dabei schon mehr Balast losgelassen als würde ich gerade noch die richtigen Öle und Kräuter suchen. Karten lege ich mir gleich noch, weil ich mein Tarot einfach mag.
