One can do #pinless #NFC transactions but:

• not only are these limited to €20-50 per transaction & €50-100 per day,
  • plus unlike #PIN-based payments there's no "payment guarantee" through the payment processor and
• doing so is basically #WireFraud and would get offenders jailed, as even cheap providers like #SumUp do #KYC (even if they don't do #KYB)
  • and require a matching bank account for it.

The math says no, because it's more profitable for #OrganizedCrime to do classic #deetsing and #MoneyLaundering instead which promise hier ROI at less work.

One indictment in the case lists 32 defendants, including the former #NBA guard #DamonJones & the #PortlandTrailBlazers coach #ChaunceyBillups, who are both charged with #WireFraud conspiracy & #MoneyLaundering conspiracy, according to the docket sheet in the case.

Many of the other defendants also face those charges, along with counts accusing them of operating an illegal #gambling enterprise & conspiracies to commit #extortion & #robbery.

#FBI joker #KashPatel, in his opening remarks at the news conference, said that the 2 schemes enveloped both the #NBA & #OrganizedCrime, & involved charges of #WireFraud, #MoneyLaundering, #extortion & illegal #gambling.

Patel called the fraud “mind-boggling,” & said the schemes involved “tens of millions of dollars” in #theft, fraud & #robbery.

Some people participated in both schemes…. One involved illegal #poker games that were set up by #OrganizedCrime families & also involved at least one #NBA coach & fmr players in the league….

The case is expected to involve more than two dozen defendants, according to two people with knowledge of the matter, & to involve charges of #gambling, #MoneyLaundering & #WireFraud.
