It's Winter Jazzfest season in NYC. I used to pooh pooh the idea of a jazz festival in a city where every single day is literally the best jazz festival in the world (which remains true while WJF is going on!), but I've come around to its creative booking and programming.
Started last night with the Psychic Hotline showcase show at LPR. 5 short sets each with their own charm, dug em all. Joe Westerlund's rhythmic dreamscape probably my favorite, although William Tyler, Sam Gendel, et al were all pretty great too.
Looking forward to the WJF Brooklyn marathon tomorrow...
