US NWS: "Tracking Winter Weather and Frigid Temperatures This Weekend

Another clipper will drop into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest into Sunday with snow and gusty winds contributing to some areas of blizzard conditions and snow squalls. Impactful snowfall will occur up and down the East Coast Sunday extending from the western Florida Panhandle to Maine"

We got enough wet, heavy snow last night that the city got its scraper stuck in our cul-de-sac.

All those winter storm warnings in the US look like a big seahorse, if you ask me.

If you look out your window in a large part of the country, winter will be staring back at you. After growing up in Minnesota I decided many years ago that the crummy kind of weather I preferred was 40 degrees and rain instead of 20 degrees and snow.

Currently near Redmond WA the sky is clear, wind calm and temp at mid-day in upper 30s. It was 25 last night - coldest night of the season so far.

Map shows all weather watches and warnings. To read details from NOAA, open the map, click colored area, follow the link. Scroll down in the popup since each type of watch or warning has its own link for the details.

I've had a couple small devices for inflating a tire, and as we get into winter season, I can heavily endorse this kind. Only works on a 12v, but has a great length of a power cord and a suitable length of a hose. Relatively quick and a good form factor for a device like this.

Annual curmudgeonly post:
in the US “blizzard” as used by NWS is a jargon term with an imprecise definition: It does not mean "snows hard" or "snow a lot" or "big drifts". A blizzard consists of three necessary features:
1) wind: frequent sustained or gusts 35 mph or higher
2) visibility: frequently reduced to less than ¼ mile in falling and/or blowing snow
3) above conditions persist 3 hours or more.

“frequent” is undefined, hence the impreciseness.

The second system will be much stronger. Heavy rain in the valley and heavy snow in the mountains. A blizzard warning is In effect for the high Sierra for high winds and heavy snow. Snow levels will be lower around 1,000-2,000 feet. This storm will drop up to 4 feet or more of snow and up to an inch or more in spots in the valley. After the front instability builds in with small hail and lightning possible. Curved hodographs could suggest a funnel cloud or two with the storms #cawx #winterwx
Via Donovan Johnson, weather nerd: prediction on next storm coming in tomorrow…The first system will be on the weaker side with no more than an inch of precip expected. Snow levels will be around 2,000-3,000 feet and will drop a foot or a foot and a half of snow in the sierras. Models are showing a convergence zone developing after the front in the afternoon between Red Bluff and Chico #cawx #winterwx #snow
