Does anyone use "IK Multimedia" plugins with Wine on Linux?

@workgood I would be interested to know how well Wine / Bottles is with a recent Microsoft Word (and Microsoft Excel). Either version 365, 2024, or 2021.

Before anyone asks: I almost exclusively work in #LibreOffice, but also have to often exchange documents that have to *exactly* look like they look in the MS Word of the sender/receiver. That's why I have to use MS Word sometimes.

Tips on #wineHQ integration with #KDE #Plasma? I successfully installed Send to Kindle, and can invoke it from a command line, but am at a loss as to how to get Windows "application links" to show up within the KDE launchers.

I have been spending some time making a lot of Windows Audio Plugins work on my Linux laptop, running CachyOS.

It took some time finding the approach giving me the most stable solution, without needing too much setup. To me the answer was wine-cachyos and Yabridge.

I have tried to collect all my notes and experiences in a blogpost, in case others are searching for a solution.

Here it is: https://mortenmosgaard.dk/run-windows-plugins-on-linux-using-yabridge/

Run Windows Plugins on Linux using Yabridge

If you ever wanted to try out using Windows versions of audio plugins on Linux, you might have heard about Yabridge and Wine, which can be a close-to-magical combo… sometimes. The short version Wine is a Windows compatibility layer that lets you install and run Windows software on your Linux computer. Yabridge creates a digital…

I'm writing a guide about how I use Yabridge on CachyOS Linux. I have written somewhere in my notes that I need Winetricks and then run 'winetricks corefonts' in the terminal after installing.

I am not completely sure if this is relevant today, do you happen to know?

Looking for help to install Photoshop7 using #WineHQ on #Linux Mint.

I have downloaded WINE but when I right on the Photoshop.exe file (CD inserted) and choose 'open with other application', type in Wine, it opens up Photoshop7 but gives me a "could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information" pop up.

Any Idea how to get around this?

Yes, Ive searched for an answer but nothing seems to work.

Note: Not looking for alternative suggestion like gimp. I real want photoshop7 back on my laptop.

While searching for good turn-based strategy games, I fell down a wargaming rabbit hole and got stuck on the games from Wargame Design Studio (WDS).

Unfortunately, there are display issues on Wine. I have documented my solution to the problem here: https://codeberg.org/blabber/wds-wine.

So, if your Squad Battles game, or any other WDS game, looks like this, give it a try.

Dark Blue Weekly - Episode 1

 very important! pls boost

in october of last year, the Paint.NET on Linux topic resurfaced in the Paint.NET forums. apparently someone who goes by Blue Beard was working on getting Wine to work with the program. subsequently they got help from Paint.NET staff so that the effort could go in the right direction. today, the effort is still going and there's a somehow active GitHub repository with patches to Wine so that Paint.NET works, and from what i can see, it does! people are running Paint.NET!

the goal of this post is to spread awareness about the topic, and hopefully get more people on board with testing and maybe even helping if anyone knows how to deal with this. below, i've linked the forum thread, which has links to past threads with more information in them, and the GitHub repo with the patches, instructions, and a roadmap, in the repo everyone can look at the code and submit issues and PRs. i'd very much appreciate it as i miss Paint.NET a lot, i'll certainly be looking for ways to help as well!
