I've been enjoying the podcast "It's Storytime with Wil Wheaton" for a while. It's like having a collection of short stories when you want a good story to wind down at the end of the day or to keep you company while gardening or commuting. I give it the #Bookstodon hashtag because I believe all of these stories have been published somewhere in anthologies and whatnot. Aren't short stories just mini-books? :) This version just has the benefit of being narrated by Wil Wheaton just for you. :)
Today was especially good with "Lily, the Immortal" by Kylie Lee Baker (it's from February, and I am behind). Wil Wheaton had some very good closing comments at the end, which I agree with, but don't want to share here for fear of spoiling the episode for you. If you have any, uh, issues concerning AI, you might find some insights in this story. I think Kylie Lee Baker sounds like a writer who is worth checking out. Here's one link to her website with this story: https://www.kylieleebaker.com/other-writings and from there you can look for more of her work.
There are many more amazing writers who Wil Wheaton and his team bring to your attention through the podcast. Loads of good stuff with varying amounts of sci-fi, speculative fiction, fantasy, and more.
Find "It's Storytime..." it where you listen to podcasts. Here's one link: https://podcasts.apple.com/dk/podcast/its-storytime-with-wil-wheaton/id1803000536?i=1000767558990
