@theseer I might be inclined to say that markdown for composition could be nice, but I would be very vocal against Matrix-style full-blown markdown, where you can make messages basically scream. I imagine that's one major argument against it!
Having asterisk and double-asterisk support in the message composition field would be cool though! Maybe I'll consider that for #Whisperfish 🤔
Petit teaser… j'ai migré tous mes usages vers #SailfishOS durant le w-e.
J'ai pris plein de notes pour en faire un billet complet sur #LinuxFR.
Mon objectif suivant est de me passer de la couche de compatibilité #Android (qui marche très bien), mais le téléphone est déjà 100% opérationnel en l'état.
J'utilise le client natif #Sailtrix pour #Matrix, et il me reste à mettre en service les clients natifs #Whisperfish (pour #Signal) et #ArcaneChat (pour #DeltaChat).
J'ai du GPS hors-ligne qui fonctionne #OSMScout, un bon logiciel de #Wikipedia hors-ligne (et 5Go de livres en bonus), mes contacts, agendas et notes synchronisées #NextCloud, #Kagi, #OTP, #OBD…
@tinker @whvholst I've only tested Whisperfish so briefly I don't feel qualified to comment on daily-driveability, but it did work fine for the things I tried with it.

Enjoying a quiet moment in the cabin up in the mountains, and started translating Whisperfish (a Signal client) to Norwegian bokmål. Before I knew it, more 50% of the strings were translated (not all by me).

As a #Whisperfish maintainer & privacy researcher, I’m alarmed: the new “Danish” proposal forces mass scanning & client-side #backdoors into #encrypted apps — while exempting governments & military.
As @signalapp says, this would “break encryption as we know it” — and we won’t comply.
Time’s critical: govs lock positions by 12 Sept; vote is 14 Oct.
