Over the past couple of weeks I’ve pulled out the spent tomato plants and weeded that (very neglected and weedy!) patch of garden. Today I sowed green manure seeds - a lupin and garden oats mix - and emptied the contents of one compost bin there. Feeling prepared for winter now.
When I had a surge of energy a few weeks back, due to a break from some medication, one of the long delayed tasks I did was to get the wheelbarrow tyre repaired. So glad I did - it’s a lot easier shifting compost with a barrow than buckets. What a simple yet brilliant device a wheelbarrow is 😆

First time this wheelbarrow has been used in at least a decade, lol. Not sure if the dog is attacking me because using tools is verboten, OR because he peed on the wheelbarrow and it was marking a corner of the yard, and I am moving his territorial marker. Almost done! Went rummaging around a bucket of bolts and found two that would work. Now I just need to hacksaw off the too long bolts and give it another layer of linseed oil. Also done earlier, the wheelbarrow wedges I ordered did not match the old wedge. Just went and cut new ones on the table saw. But now, wonder if that wedge was also jury rigged. 🤔 #repair #wheelbarrow
Aha! This should work. The spacing between the two sides of the wood are now tight enough the wheel will stay in place. #wheelbarrow
Uh oh! Made a serious, strategic mistake in the wheelbarrow project. Will likely require reordering yet another set of handles. (Will reconsider what to do in daylight).
