Oh great Internet #HiveMind... this has turned up while #volunteers have been working on transforming our allotments. We *think* it's to do with horses (this was a farm, after all), and isn't anything as cool as something ancient. But #WhatIsIt , and when might it be from?

It scared the daylights out of me. I like spiders, but not when they are like this, but it was a part of a dog toy!

In Czech Republic you quite often see a small roadside cluster of these banded poles with a metal “frisbee” like disk on top. I’ve never worked out what their purpose is.

The poles in a cluster are together, but apparently randomly placed. They are different heights. They seem pretty old. The top thing is metal. It’s white with a red stripe on it.
