Something I noticed today.

After I had typed the word "shoe" a dozen or so times, it started to look really weird.

I found myself wondering if I had misspelled it, or, indeed, even if it was a word at all. After a little while, I found myself wondering if I was even using English, or any human language.

I began to wonder if a 'shoe' was something I had made up. Socks, however, remained perfectly reasonable.

Eventually I was questioning my own nature, and if I was real.

I am still not sure.

My kid wants me to ask the internet to identify this beetle. The closest I could find in our insect book was an Eastern boxelder beetle but we're on the west coast of the US so... Maybe the Western boxelder? Kid doesn't think so because the pictures we've found don't have any white, but I think it's because all the pictures are of the other side and most people aren't looking at belly stripes through a second storey window. 😅
