I said it yesterday and again today: we need more rainbows! 🌈

There are so many negative and depressing events, which we should not ignore (we need to deal with what is happening). But don’t forget to compensate with positive and energising moments, friendly people and beautiful photos!

Garðar BA 64 shipwreck on route 612. If you're driving to Latrabjarg bird cliffs or Raudisandur beach, you won't miss it. This photo was taken in June 2019. Between then and now, looks like someone had spray-painted some ugly tags on the side of the ship pictured. 🙃

Garðar BA64 Shipwreck, Iceland

https://www.luigimorbidelli.com/product-page/gardar-ba64-shipwreck-iceland

The Garðar BA64 is a notable shipwreck situated in the Westfjords of Iceland, specifically near the small village of Patreksfjörður. This abandoned fishing trawler holds a rich history that reflects the maritime culture of Iceland and the challenges faced by its fishing industry.Originally built in 1912 in Norway, the Garðar BA64 was a part of Iceland's vibrant fishing fleet, contributing to the economic development of the region. The vessel operated for many years, primarily involved in the herring fishery, which was crucial to Iceland's economy during the early to mid-20th century. Over time, however, as fishing practices evolved and the industry faced various challenges, the Garðar BA64 was retired from active service. Now, the ship rests peacefully on the rocky shores, slowly succumbing to the elements. Its rusting hull and decaying structure tell a silent story of the passage of time and the changing fortunes of the fishing industry. Surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Westfjords, including dramatic cliffs and fjords, the Garðar BA64 serves as a poignant reminder of Iceland's seafaring past.Visiting the site can evoke a sense of nostalgia and reflection on the impermanence of human endeavors against the backdrop of nature's relentless forces. The Garðar BA64 stands not only as a relic of the past but also as a testament to the resilience of communities that have relied on the sea for their livelihoods.

Look at all the blooming lupines on the side of the mountain, looking like purple lava flowing down the mountain! They're doing what they do best: preventing erosion. I think I shot this near Flateyri in Westfjords, Iceland. (June 2019)

I mistakenly said that the last puffin photo I posted was taken in May 2019 when it was in fact taken in June 2019. It matters to nobody but me but the mistake irked me. My social anxiety stopped me from editing the post because I didn't want to spam the notification of hundreds of people. 😂

This photo was taken on the same visit to Látrabjarg. Please consider this an erratum of some sort.
