Today, on the DH's birthday we had lunch in Rockingham.

On the foreshore is the 6 Wild Geese memorial to the daring rescue of 6 Fenian political prisoners from Fremantle gaol, exactly 150 years ago this week.

They were rescued by a Yankee whaler named the Catalpa, from this spot on the beach.

We listened to the podcast of the events as we drove down.
