Ich verliere gerade das Open Source Tool #WEKAN für eine Schulung in der öffentlichen Verwaltung. Die Leute brauchen einfach mehr Praxis. Bin mal gespannt, ob das klappt.

I needed some task planning / kanban style service (for tracking study progres, which helps me motivate myself and keep myself on track) and was postponing / procrastinating on it becase "obviously I can't use #trello and have to self host!".

Found #wekan, which looks nice but then faced a bunch of issues when deploying it (lack of arm64 image being one of them)...

And today just realised that instead of procrastinating on the issue and fighting with the tech I can just use trello (for now) and be done with it...

I found an interesting #trello alternative - #wekan (https://wekan.fi/) and decided to try it on only to found this monstrosity of docker-compose: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wekan/wekan/refs/heads/main/docker-compose.yml why oh why most of the "dynamic languages" projects have to have so absurd understanding of how #docker works?

Same with #pixelfed -- can't wrap my head around how can anyone thing that this: https://docs.pixelfed.org/running-pixelfed/prerequisites.html (along with constantly making sure every dependency is up-to-date) is "better" than simply running `docker compose up -d`… 🙄

When it comes to #ProjectManagement software, #Trello, #Asana, #Jira and #Notion are all proprietary, and #Wekan as a #FOSS option has had untapped potential since forever. So it's nice to see that #Basecamp's developers released #Fizzy's source code on GitHub. I'm just hesitant to call it #OpenSource because the license seems... hmm. What is considered 'directly competing with #37signals'? If I selfhost it free of charge for a NGO that might have paid for it?
