Spring* is finally here! Well, hopefully. With that comes the time for spring cleaning. For me, that means outdoor tasks like getting the BBQ cleaned, prepping the garden, trimming the trees, and cleaning windows. I also try to use this time for digital cleaning, like unsubscribing from emails I no longer read, deleting apps and files I don't need, and deciding which projects need to be sunsetted.

This week's (2026-04-28) chat topic is digital spring cleaning. Do you do a digital spring cleaning? If so what do you delete, remove, and/or conclude? If not, then when do you do your digital cleaning? Are you one of those people that is constantly keeping your digital life clean and tidy?

*For those not in the Edmonton (YEG) area, spring means no snow and above-freezing temperatures (0 Celsius, 32 Fahrenheit). As of this writing, the last snowfall was April 26th at the airport:

Today's chat (2026-04-14) is an opportunity to show what you have been working. Give us a quick explanation, and if time permits, a quick demo. By quick I mean 5 minutes or less. The actual time will be driven by how many people want to show off.

Anything software or technical is allowed. Some examples:

- a product you are working on
- some cool code you wrote
- an interesting problem you recently solved

Looking forward to hearing what everyone has been working on lately!

In today's (2026-04-07) chat we will attempt to run an LLM locally on my (Chris) machine with the help of attendees.  Let's see how easy/hard it is and if my new desktop can handle it.  Assuming we get something working, we can do experiments.

In today's (2026-03-17) chat I'll get the chat mob to review my 99% vibe code Word Games is Dumb app and/or vibe code some more of it. This is the first application I've vibe coded and accepted most of the clanker (AI) recommendations unless they were really dumb. It's in TypeScript, which is a language I'm not familiar with, so I'm curious to hear what TypeScript experts think of the generated code.

Word Games is Dumb: https://wordgamesisdumb.netlify.app/

I found the clanker was good at quickly creating a proof of concept (PoC) for my game ideas. For example, I had one idea that I PoC in an afternoon, tried for a couple days, then ditched it.

What is a feature, or two, that you wish existed in the language/framework/technology you are currently using? Why do you miss it? Does your current language/framework/technology have the feature, but it's just implemented differently than you would like?

Inspired by myself and Omar Ashour being newbies with Go and trying not to impose our habits from other languages without a good justification. For example, we recently debated if we should use the Testify (https://github.com/stretchr/testify) testing framework instead of Go's built-in way to testing (https://go.dev/doc/tutorial/add-a-test).
