Week in Review
> This week, we celebrated the PSP and the 16-bit fantasy console Sharpie. And I published two large opinion pieces. This week was fun and I hope you enjoy!

One of those weeks where the game fought back a little. Villages now buy what players sell, use those goods, and actually change on the map because of it. That made the world feel a lot more alive. Then came chat and moderation, and a reminder that all this growing stuff needs better organizing soon. Good progress, slightly messy week.

This week moved from defining items to making the world actually yield them. Built a small item tool to feed clean data into Godot and the server, then gathering and inventory started working in-game. Lots of ups and downs but the first resource loop feels real. Next: stabilize gathering and UI, nail drop tables, hook crafting and trading. Posting from the co-working space today.

Week in review: tech wins and faster iteration pushed us into design. Navigation is readable now with a movement target and debug overlay, and client and server deploys are much quicker. With the base in place we defined player verbs and added a first in game UI, turning walking into gathering and interaction. Now I'll go outside and watch the snow melt before winter is over :) Will continue work on Highroads tomorrrow.

The last week of February 2026 was an ENORMOUS seven days for The Review. I pushed many long-overdue changes to the code and we published 10 – count 'em ten – phenomenal articles from four different authors!

This week pushed Highroads forward on two fronts: the map and movement systems got the data and navigation they need to become a proper logistics playground, and the backend and deployment became more hands off and resilient so builds are easier to share. There were ups and downs, but this sets us up for faster iteration. Want to try a build? Send a DM.
