West #Midlands #Metro has introduced a state-of-the-art control centre simulator at its #Wednesbury Training Academy, developed with the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB). The £90,000 system replicates the Operational Control Centre (OCC) environment, providing a realistic, disruption-free platform to train new and existing staff. This prepares them to manage real-world incidents effectively, enhancing safety and efficiency. The simulator includes both the current and future Metro network, helping staff familiarise themselves with upcoming routes and allowing the testing of new timetables. The investment builds on earlier trials with #Edinburgh #Trams, developed by LRSSB and simulator specialists Avansim. Carl Williams, LRSSB Chief Executive, praised the technology's impact on tramway safety and efficiency, expressing hope that more light rail operators will adopt this “game-changing” tool.
