Over the past year, Iโ€™ve been writing a series of thought experiments on wave dynamics, perception, and anomalous phenomena.

Theyโ€™re not scientific papers - theyโ€™re invitations to think sideways. Curious? Good! ๐Ÿ‘‡

Why #Windows, not #Linux? Only one reason: #Audacity's #waveforms are blobby and indistinct, so unfortunately... #UNIX-y is still my endgame, but needs, devil, etc. (Sighs massively, then buggers off to help make pumpkin pie).

Trying to wrap my head around the concept of single cycle #waveforms. I want to convert interesting noises from my favoured synths into waveforms to perform live only with something like Digitakt. What is the best (free) #synth for learning single cycle waveforms? #Vital? Or can I run these directly in #Reaper?

Aguilar Suarez & Beroza present a dataset of 1.6 million waveforms, to be used for machine-learning models in regional seismic event monitoring.

Curated Regional Earthquake Waveforms (CREW) Dataset

We have assembled CREW, the Curated Regional Earthquake Waveforms Dataset, which is a dataset of earthquake arrivals recorded at local and regional distances. CREW was assembled from millions of waveforms with quality control through semi-supervised learning. CREW includes 2.3 million waveforms that have global coverage. Each waveform consists of a 5 minute three component seismogram with labels for both a P and S arrival. CREW provides a high quality labelled waveform data set that can be used to develop and test machine learning models for the analysis of earthquakes recorded at regional distances.

So the electronic module bolted to the back of this 3-phase motor contains what's called a "Variable Frequency Drive", or #VFD. That is a complicated setup with a bunch of very high-powered #transistors to turn 1-phase power into 3-phases for controlling and running the motor, along with a #CPU/#MPU to manage it, send different #waveforms to each of the 3 motor terminals to control its #speed, etc.

It also has to "talk" to the furnace control board. And there's another #puzzle.
