The tank's at the stern (back of the boat). Since the water level in this canal is so low, I only want the diesel tank filled half way, so the boat floats more level—no scraping the propeller and rudder on the bottom.

While fuelling, it was typical boater chat: 'Canals ran better under British Waterways than the "top-heavy" Canal & River Trust.'

Boating today was very slow going, but lovely and sunny.

With the canal water so low – some say it's down a half foot or more – there's so little water under the boat, the drag is substantial.

On the way there was a cute boathouse, with a brick arch that echoes the arch of traditional canal bridges and aqueducts. Not sure why they need gunholes, though. 😅
