Wasp at the Waterhole

38°C outside. The air is heavy, the stones are hot, and even the wasps are searching for relief.

I put out just a little bit of water — and within minutes, they arrived. Not aggressive, not disturbing anyone. Just thirsty.

On days like this, every living thing is looking for a way to cool down. Even the tiny, striped visitors we usually try to avoid.

PSA: If you're afraid of cute #ostrich babies you should not watch the Namibia #waterhole stream right now. And don't go to the 13:30 timestamp.
“At 22:16 Eastern Standard Time on the infamous date, the silence of the #waterhole broke for 72 long seconds. The #signal detected by the #radiotelescope peaked at 30 times the level of the static radio noise always present.” aeon.co/essays/pansp...

I learned about this part of the #radiospectrum called the #waterhole around 1400 MHz that could serve as an #interstellar communications band. I was sooo excited that I took a photo of the frequency from the movie and tried to find a #websdr with coverage in the band.
