I don’t think I’ve really shared it here, but a few years ago I was a pretty avid watch modder. Specifically with automatic movements. I just really like the idea of all those tiny gears and springs working in harmony to keep time. It’s an aesthetic thing I guess.

This homage here is based on the Panerai Luminor line of watches. It uses a fairly inexpensive (but beautiful imho) Chinese movement that keeps really good time. I bought the case, dial, hands, bracelet, and movement separately and put them together.

I don’t hate smartwatches, it’s just that I already have a computer in my pocket, I don’t need one on my wrist.

Working with the NH34 I'd intended as one of the Christmas presents I'd intended to give family members. I got it cased up, got the face opened up to accomodate the GMT stem, and got the stem cut. Except it seems to be too freaking long still. I'm going to have to mess with it some more. But hey, the rotor is working, and so is the movement.
