a quick mini ifixit guide for nike fuelband batteries
if you've got an old Nike FuelBand sitting around in a desk, there's a good chance that it's leaking battery electrolytes into your watch and damaging it from the inside.
symptom: your fuelband doesn't wake up when you hit the button, but turns on and shows 100% charge when you plug it into a usb port.
there are two batteries in the band, accessed by 6mm torx screws.
be careful removing the battery covers, as they contain a gasket inside that is easily damaged.
peel each battery upwards a little to reveal the underside, so you have better access to desoldering the contacts
long shot, but do I know anyone who has a spare set of watch band pins for the #casio #f84w ? (or #f91w , etc) (18mm band, non-spring push through pin with a little groove at one end)
I can just order a set, but it seems ridiculously expensive.
also, digital watch modding folks, what kind of paint do you use for the inside of the crystal? and is there data on different backlight mods people have tried?
@twoowls73 Excellent! Tagging for #SolarPunkSunday !

Do you have a running or sports watch that is running out of battery? I am uk based and offer watch battery replacement and button fettling as a service, to keep them out of landfill.
I know that Garmin has excellent customer service, but some people want to keep their existing watches going for longer.
I use quality components from reputable suppliers, get in touch if you want to discuss
I took apart this Slava 2414 today. My first double-barrelled movement. It was still more complicated than I thought, and I took way too few pictures. I’ll have to look up someone’s video when putting it back together. Again.
It was running (very poorly), and the calendar wouldn’t work at all. Nothing too bad came up during disassembly. Some dirt, but nothing too bad. No idea why the calendar didn’t click over.
The Slava Caliber 2414 is a remarkable hand winding movement from russia, since it contains two mainspring barrels, which drive the minute wheel simultaneously. Together with the large Glucydur balance a good precision can be achieved. old version The rest of the movement construction is remarkable, too: The large center second wheel is directly driven and is located under a large bridge together with the anchor wheel.
My 10 year old has gotten really into watch repair. Now he has teamed up a bit with his older brother who has learned some stop motion stuff, and they made this today!
