I realise I'm posting photos from #WaspHeaven that aren't (strictly speaking) of wasps. So here's a probable elegant grass-carrying wasp, Isodontia elegans - again preening itself like a cat would.

(Brambles in sunshine are a great place to spot bugs...)

Bonus #bees on brambles - #WaspHeaven, #Seattle, July 2025.

(One on right might be a European wool carder bee, Anthidium manicatum? I somehow managed to catch it in flight...)

Bonus bug - a rather grumpy-looking bumble bee, from #waspHeaven, #Seattle. (It's not just wasps there!)

Late-night bugs - robber fly (?) making more robber flies with another robber fly, while eating a smaller fly. From the absurdly prolific #waspHeaven, #Seattle.

Apologies for the recent lack of bugs. I've been back in #Seattle - and, in #VolunteerPark, have discovered what I've dubbed #waspHeaven - the middle path around the water tower. I've counted at least eleven different species of wasp - around noon in hot weather, the place is (literally) *buzzing*. I'll post more. Here's a brief selection - see alt text for details...
