I just bought washing machine cleaning powder.
And afterwards someone told me that that is basically just overpriced dishwasher tabs.

Is that true? Can you just throw dishwasher tabs into the washing machine every other month to keep it clean?

I mean it sounds reasonable. Dishwasher tabs are specialised to clean plastics and metal, but is it actually?
