Before the world wide web arrived in my house, I used to dial in to local BBSes (which were advertised in the Yellow Pages!) and download Commander Keen and other shareware games. It was a good—though brief—time before the internet swallowed everything.

I purchased the BBS Documentary on DVD so long ago I think I might have still been married, but if you haven't seen it; it's excellent viewing and what better way to commemorate Ward Christensen than to watch some of his salient interviews?

Sad to hear of #LillyLedbetter passing on. My spouse met her a few times. Her work was so important & so glad there was an act named after her.

Also sad to hear of #WardChristensen passing on. BBS were the only way this non-drinking introvert could meet people back then.

@arstechnica this is sad. It was the #bbs world that got me online at such speeds as 300 and 1200 baud and in 40x20 characters with at best 4 colours. I was still able to send email though.... ahh #fidonet

RIP #wardchristensen online pioneer.
