There are likely to be two effects limiting comparability in #england between #local and #national elections. The first is 'ticket splitting' and the second variation in voter turnout. Evidence of 'ticket splitting' can be found when both types of election occur on the same day. In #wandsworth in 2010 #conservatives polled better against #labour in the local election than in the #generalelection ; these were held on the same day. Voter turnout tends to be lower in local elections.

c) #America is not my problem? Oh it is. Oh and how! Fight for better rites. Or remain #outside them

It could not possibly be that one of the two local authorities most affected - #wandsworth which is expected to increase #counciltax by 75% over two years according to estimates by the #ifs - may have had the temerity to develop an approach to the provision of #socialhousing and to the role of #privatedevelopers very different from that favoured by #stevereed - although that would be consistent with an article in the opinion section of the #guardian today. That is surely inconceivable!
Of the six local authorities affected one (the #CityofLondon ) is not under the control of any party. The #RoyalBoroughofKensingtonandChelsea is under #conservative control while the #RoyalBoroughofwindsorandmaidenhead is under a #liberaldenocrat administration supported by some residents' groups. The remaining three local authorities (the #CityofWestminster , #Hammersmithandfulham and #wandsworth ) are under #labour control. The majority of the population affected lives in these last three,
