This week's #TuneTuesday theme is #implodeorexplode. The first tune that came into my mind is this classic rockabilly recording:

The song had been previously recorded by Annisteen Allen and Eileen Barton. Allen's original R&B version, arranged by Howard Biggs, is also quite good:

The lyrics (by Earl Burrows, who was better-known under his stage name, Jack Hammer) are somewhat questionable, written only a decade after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but this didn't stop Wanda Jackson's version from being a hit in Japan.

1972 veröffentlichten #GeneVincent & #WandaJackson das Album "The Greatest Party" auf Capitol Records. Die Zusammenarbeit der beiden Rockabilly-Größen fiel in eine Zeit, in der Wanda Jackson sich verstärkt der Gospel-Musik zuwandte und im selben Jahr auch das religiöse Album "Praise the Lord" herausbrachte. Beide Künstler waren seit den 1950er Jahren bei Capitol Records unter Vertrag und prägten die frühe Rock'n'Roll-Ära nachhaltig.

#WandaJackson s Studio-Album #IveGottaSing erschien im Februar 1971 über Capitol Records und erreichte Platz 19 der Billboard Country Charts. Die Single "Fancy Satin Pillows" kletterte auf Platz 13 der Hot Country Songs und wurde bereits im November 1970 veröffentlicht. Das Album enthielt zehn Tracks mit überwiegend Coverversionen bekannter Titel.
