Walk'n'roll!! Thanks to all the kids, parents, teachers, school administrators, TO Police, and community members who made today's Unity Day/Walk'n'Roll event at EARThS Magnet School a success.
Special kudos to principal Jeff Rickert, who led the large group dressed as a gecko, the school's mascot.
Excellent turnout on National Walk and Ride to School Day at #langranch Elementary, Westlake Elementary, and Sycamore Canyon. Saw lots of kids walking and riding, and many fewer cars than normal.
CVUSD and city officials turned out and so did TOPD, offering safety tips and a chance to sit in a patrol car.
More news soon about future events at other schools. Let's make walk'n'roll an ongoing practice, not just an annual event!
Walk'n'roll!!
Tomorrow, Oct. 4, is National Walk and Ride to School Day. Volunteers throughout the city are sponsoring walk'n'roll events at three elementary schools: Lang Ranch, Sycamore Canyon, and Westlake Elementary.
This is just the kickoff. More elementary schools will hold similar events later this month and, we hope, on an ongoing basis. Show your support via the city website (link in graphic), your kids' school, and your PTA!
