I have a few things cooking for the next release of the wafrn app. In the next version you will be able to:

• Open the links to any wafrn server directly in the app (although this will require a little configuration by the user)
• Share messages, images or videos to the wafrn app (a "share with wafrn" thing)

I am still trying hard to figure out how we could bring the usual tumblr reblogging ux onto here but none of the solutions quite work

replies are the closest but fedi doesn't usually yap in tags in replies (outside of wafrn)

quotes could work, but to display a rewoot-chain we'd have to go like…

• load post
• load "rewooted" (quoted) post
• load quoted post in quoted post…
• keep going until you reach the final post

which um…isn't particularly fast. and we'd rather keep the site operating well rather than doing stuff like this

you can use these to keep replyguys and such at bay
it's per-post, not per-thread like on bsky, and compatible with bluesky and GoToSocial :)
the quote-controls are compatible with Mastodon, but rn we just have a on/off toggle there basically (yes/no)

I'll be improving the UI for this soon, but I hope y'all enjoy :3

New version v1.9.5 of the Wafrn App published!!

This time I fixed one of the longest problems we had, were feed processing time and memory consumption kept growing and growing the longer you scrolled. With this, the move to use more of XState and tweaks in the rn-reanimated build we are back at 120fps!!

New version is ready to be downloaded in Obtanium, soon to be available in IzzyOnDroid and Apple Store and in a few days in F-Droid

Version 1.9.1 of the Wafrn App is coming

This version brings a rewrite of the feed building logic that should be a bit faster but I'm not so sure about that
What should noticeably faster is post interactions:
liking, rewooting, adding emoji reactions, all of them now use optimistic updates instead of reloading the feed on each action
this was specially hard for emojis, had to do many surgical break aparts and re-composition of the components but I think we will all enjoy it
