Auf dem letzten #wackenopenair hatte #Märklin offenbar einen Stand mit einem speziellen Teufelszug-Modell. Dieses Unikat wird anlässlich des gestrigen Weltkrebstages versteigert, der Erlös geht an die #DKMS. Ich finde die Kombination #Metalheads und #Modelleisenbahn schon wunderbar cool und nerdig zugleich, aber die Verbindung mit Krebsbekämpfung setzt noch einen drauf. In meinen Augen eine sehr coole Aktion 🚂 🤘

Outside of #wackenopenair the lovely village of #wacken is just that. A lovely village with cows on the fields. Except you get school children running around with t-shirts „sponsored by #woa“ and merch in the supermarket. And you can‘t havw smalltalk with locals without it being mentioned.I love it!

Auf dem weltgrößten Heavy-Metal-Festival Wacken 🤘 traf beim Space Camp auf dem Holy Ground - unserer Erde - Wissenschaft auf Metal! Hier konnten Metalheads Pause vom Headbangen machen und gleichzeitig unsere Erde und unsere Heimatgalaxie näher kennenlernen.

Und das alles mitten im Matsch! Trotz Dauerregen und Schlammschlacht war das Space Camp ein voller Erfolg. Besonders am Herzen ❤️ lagen unserer Crew dabei der Schutz der Dunkelheit und die Folgen der Lichverschmutzung. Unser Team hat sich vor Ort mit Besucherinnen und Besuchern unterhalten und dieses wichtige Thema direkt angesprochen. Dabei wurde klar: ganz viele großartige Menschen sind sich bei einer Sache einig - alle wollen den Nachthimmel wieder dunkel!

🤘It may sound crazy, but science communication at the world’s largest heavy metal festival in Wacken was an absolute hit!🚀🎸

🛰️The Space Camp turned out to be a real magnet for curious music fans asking questions about black holes 🕳️, rockets 🚀, the universe 🌌, or Mars rovers 🤖. Amidst the thunder of metal, we talked about space exploration, research, and light pollution – not just in talks, but also through hands-on activities and experiments.

A heartfelt ❤️ thank-you goes to the Wacken team, our partners, and everyone who helped make the Space Camp possible.🤘🔥 A special shout-out to our colleagues from Effelsberg, Benjamin @HIprocessor and Josh, who represented the MPIfR and truly rocked the Wacken week together with the metalheads!

It was a unique and extraordinary experience – we’d love to do it again. We all had a great time!
